As the winter months start to move into the rear-view mirror, we are all starting to look forward to plans and adventures on our motorcycle. Whether it’s riding alone, with a few friends, or as part of a group or club, there is little doubt that some plans are needed to make the most out of the riding months ahead.
For many, Thunder in the Glens is an absolute must. I was there for the first time last year and I had a truely fantastic time. You can see all three parts of The Road to Thunder which covers the ride to the Davidson cottage, and then onto the rally itself. The members of Dunedin HOG Chapter were so welcoming and I watched them work a solid shift across that weekend making sure that everyone visiting had a ball.
The news of the closure of Edinburgh Harley-Davidson came as a sad blow for many in Scotland, and beyond, but the members of Dunedin have no doubt been doubling down on effort to make sure 2025 is a blast. That includes the Thunder in the Glens rally, which is full steam ahead.
The very best of luck to the rally team and everyone involved in Thunder and I can’t wait to see you there!
One of the minds behind the growth and development of Thunder in the Glens rally, George McGuire, spent an afternoon with Ben Vale, a Dunedin Chapter member, to talk about all things motorcycle, Harley-Davidson, Harley Owners Group and Chapters.
This wide-ranging interview and a trip down memory lane is a really interesting watch/listen as George recalls Scotland’s first every Harley Chapter, the first Harley-Davidson dealership, life as part of Dunedin Chapter and of course, the story behind the UK and Ireland’s largest motorcycle event, Thunder in the Glens.
